Weekly News Review Welcome to our Weekly Review where we give you our perspective on what’s been happening in the news this week.
As we head towards the end of the year the news has been relatively quiet so as well as reviewing the week’s most significant automotive news stories we also take the opportunity to look back at 2012 and forward to 2013 and we can already start with the good news that the forecast of the world ending today didn’t happen!

This week we look at the passenger car registrations across Europe as the ACEA publish November’s details. As mentioned last week four of the big five markets fell and have worsening trends.
Meanwhile Australia breaks car sales records. Whilst Renault Group is the worst hit of the big European OEMs when it comes to car sales it hasn’t stopped them doing deals as it offloads Volvo Trucks and buys into Lada owner AvtoVAZ.

DEBT RESTRUCTURING UNDERPINS GROWTH STRATEGY AT EUROTAXGLASS’S EurotaxGlass’s group (ETG), the leading automotive information services provider, today announces that it has recently reached unanimous commercial agreement with its existing creditors to restructure its balance sheet through a reduction of its financial debts. The restructuring, which has the full support of the Board, lenders and management, gives the group significant financial strength to resume its growth profile. Completion is expected in the final quarter of this year. As part of the restructuring, ownership of the group will transfer to its existing lenders and management.

EurotaxGlass`s survey underpins high consumers interest and considerable purchase intentions for electric vehicles in Europe’s Big 5 markets! Times are definitely green! At this year`s Geneva Autoshow alternatively powered cars received their own exhibition area and hardly any car maker did not promote either an electric or an hybrid vehicle. Governments are subsidising the industry and purchases of vehicles with alternative powertrains. Finally, the European Parliament increased regulatory pressures by demanding the car industry achieves the target of 130 g/km CO2 by 2015 and 95g/km by 2020. However, the real question is: Is the customer ready and willing to buy electric vehicles?
